Jonathan Werbell joined Bloomberg Associates in 2023. He advises cities to solve their most pressing day-to-day technology and systems issues with a heavy focus on the urgent need around cybersecurity.
Before joining Bloomberg Associates, he was the Chief Information Officer for Bloomberg Philanthropies for 14 years. He was responsible for all aspects of technology activities and strategy in that role. He has experience working with non-technical executive stakeholders, managing technical teams, and helping to bridge the two sides together.
Prior to his years at Bloomberg Philanthropies, he served in NYC City Hall for Mayor Bloomberg during his first two terms. He was a Senior Advisor to the Deputy Mayor for Operations, assisted with the oversight of several City operating agencies, and was one of the lead City Hall representatives on high-profile and complex technology projects. He also worked in the Mayor’s Press Office as the lead City Hall technology spokesman and expanded the City’s emergency communication capabilities.
Jonathan grew up in New York City and holds an undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University.
